You can restrict access to a copy by adding a password to it. To forbid anyone else from modifying the copy, you can lock the document.

1. With the document open, choose Share > Send a Copy > [sending pick].

2. Select a format for the copy, then specify settings:

   • PDF: These files can be opened and sometimes edited with applications similar Preview and Adobe Acrobat. Click the Image Quality pop-upward menu, then choose an option (the higher the image quality, the larger the file size). If you added image, drawing, audio, or video descriptions for assistive technology (for example, VoiceOver), they're automatically exported. To include annotations or comments, select the corresponding checkbox. To include accessibility tags for big tables, click Advanced Options, so choose On.

   • Word: If the file needs to be compatible with an older version of Microsoft Word (1997-2004), click Advanced Options, so cull .doc from the popular-up menu. Click the disclosure arrow next to Advanced Options and choose a format.

   • EPUB: Apply this format to make your document readable in an ebook reader (such as Apple Books). Enter the title and writer name, then choose a cover pick.

     For give-and-take-processing documents only, choose a layout type. A fixed layout preserves the layout of your document and is best for documents with multiple columns or lots of images.    • Rich Text Format (RTF): Body text and tables are exported as formatted (RTF) text and tables. Other applications may not exist able to open an RTFD file. Folio layout documents can't be sent in RTF or RTFD format.

   • Set a password: Select the "Crave password to open" checkbox, then enter a password. It applies only to the copy.

   • Go on the original document password: Make sure the "Crave countersign to open" checkbox is selected.
